If we could only
see the shadow
would we have ever
imagined the tree
the whole tree
I would have said
long darker streaks
emerging from a dark wall
a stain or crudescence
and these grouped
together on top of
a gray border the way
science does it
not seeing the tree either
so caught up
defending the outlines
and occasional markings
but then I did see
the tree it was
the tree of desire
it was the wish
to do better.
