something secular
about the heart
if you have to be
a coward a piece
of doggerel a twit
if you still haven’t
shat out that last
brown scrap of cruelty
and wiped the blood away
if you are so old to me
and we are so done
with the movies of our lives
and walking home
with even greater vigor then
say those mortal words to me.
