in all the strangest places
and in the end to be
an unanticipated bonus
whose necessary outcome
is to deepen and to sweeten
times with others close or
even walking in a mall alone
and yet aware of the intimacies
of strangers which involve one
as a relatively real commotion
looking at but trying not to see
one another’s joy or sorrow
