as this stray cat to me is
lost and unable to know
how very lost she is
don’t you know me too
as this unstable creature
who cannot read or yield
to your clear presence
apparently in all he sees
but must be fed and loved
allowed to roam freely
the dangerous alleys
and who never seems
to want to come home
