to divide his light with the devil
to share his might with Satan
that we be free to love or not
only love did he keep exclusively
for himself not his great
wisdom nor his great power
those he let them take a lot of
when they agreed on the terms
and the fine print conditions
so certain and hopeful was he
we would also learn to love
however slowly and let them go
