is the tree’s death always
standing alongside defending
the tree from other deaths
not its own it’s what’s left
after the light is trapped and held
by a body or a tree
and how the darkness is a door
the only safe door back
into the light which for them
always meant the great sun god
who like a child bent down
to rescue his dark brother
a cinder among the stars
