and worn navy blanket
thrown up over a bed
several times until they
land perfectly in place
only to be smoothed or
straightened out a bit
so these waves roll in
until the largest curl
reaches up and falling
back withdraws
everything offered
takes it all back
then rests like at the end
of a long explanation
or dramatic hush
in an old movie
while other newer efforts
are being mounted
roaring and carefully
lowered into place.
