To know
that I know you
intentionally
in the sense of
not believing
in my own ignorance
that I’ve known you
too long not to know
you too well to speak
to myself that way
took years of conscious
projection that you
put yourself through
it and consented to it
moves me still
many things done
wrongly or left undone
every year of the life
you loved me.
