who visits us
sometimes we offer
water in a bowl
just to be civil
but we really don’t
want a cat we
barely want
the world as if
that matters to
the cat or to the
world insinuating
themselves calmly
begging to be
taken care of when
all we wanted was
to see the morning
glories after last
night’s rain
