My ex and I had one
Who’d accompany us on long
Treks through the neighborhood
Evenings after supper
Sometimes we’d encounter
Other cats who’d sit
And stare at her as if to say
What the hell are you doing
Walking around with them like a dog
Putting us other cats to shame
But she’d just laugh at them and ask
What are you complaining about
I’m just herding these two-leggeds
Before they fall apart
