Rise before dawn alone
On a given November day
And wrap yourself warm
And walk out into the dark
To catch Venus rising in the east
While Mars is setting in the west
Then burn a strip of birch bark
And the red petal of a rose
Letting the smoke circle around you
Scattering the ashes on the ground
Think of everyone you've ever loved
And everyone who has ever loved you
And speak their names into the rising sun
And know that you are never alone
