Our laughter is not of this world
It comes from another kingdom
Like swans and some friends
The Mockingbirds my neighbors
Have to fight it out before
They settle down and mate forever
Which in human years
Is just a single summer
I remember the day I vowed
Life is one embarassment
After another if it weren't
For laughter and birds
The Christ would never come
The Buddha unraveling
Would long have flown away
