Untranslatable Valentine

Yesterday I felt heartened to learn
There are an awful lot of jokes and puns
On the walls of ancient graves and temples
Smiles waiting to be exhumed
Buried in the language pictures
The night journey of the sun itself
With a few stops along the way
For quiet reflection or entertainment
Or to visit Osiris's old house
Where language floods the walls
With so much praise and laughter
It all starts to sing and dance
Now all they heard is lost to us
Hiding in our own sarcophagus
Still wondering what those gods were after
