How all this weight becomes weightless
The secret finally revealed to us
Longed for from the beginning
Of our first being on the earth
Diaphanous and floating as I
Feel now in my window-seat
Bumping along in the twilight
With these many strangers crammed
Together to get somewhere
Leaving home or going home
That must be the Mississippi down there
Our history in the cities lighting up
From which for a few hours
We're exempt suspended
Heading toward that rainbow
Of the falling sun tonight
