a hatchet or a book
in his left breast pocket
a book of prayers
or a book of poems
it’s a simple question
with an answer that can
only be another simple question
only a narcissist cares
about his own opinions
ours is to ask the questions
and having woken up to
the emotions they unfold
draw out their implications
as our youth foretold
