gone terribly awry gone
totally off the tracks
don’t take this literally
but apply the standard
critical apparatus
to strip it down
or build it up
from basic principles
back to the vowels
themselves working
into flesh and bones
each form sung
into movement
danced into being
so that now if you were
to take away the singing
who would go to church
who would not stay home
and sing her own
sacred songs?
