Seeing Valentine

Seeing it has an inside
Not just an intriguing outside
Because of course it reflects
Us and we are always
Open to flattery
But seeing the source
Of the outside in the inside
How it slips its image into the world
To become the world
Carefully as a cloud
Or a child or a breath
Held then given away
Into the mouth
Of someone else
Who’s drowning
