Seven-Story Valentine

That young monk who sang
‘Smoke Gets in Your Eyes’
So sincerely I was embarrassed
Who left soon after
Got married had kids
They called me ‘His Nibs’
My nose in the air
Because I couldn’t see right
Nor could I sing on key
So the abbot told me
Just mouth the words
Of the Divine Office
You’re throwing everything off
Who eventually was hospitalized
For paranoid schizophrenia
When the mountain came crashing down
Now I sing Te Deum in my way
To the ancient clouds above
Such were the fools of love
