In the ruins impatience leaves behind
I admit I like to wander in my mind
Old factories or monastery grounds
The outlines of abandoned cities
Where we used to live and thrive
Of course I can go to any modern town
To see what that looked like then
Anywhere we live today
But in the old places where
No one lives now I can feel
How different we were then
And how hard it is to go on
After such devastation
A world built up as eagerly torn down
I can see where this is leading soon
