What if all babies are buddhas
Like the one following my gaze
Asking who are you as I pass by
And why are you smiling at me
A look of wonder about to cry
Or maybe a grin of recognition
Floats up from another world
The crease of a smile in time
To catch its blessing on the run
And carry home that image
Seeing everything for the first time
Face before it becomes a face
Yes why are you smiling
Try to be more like me
Crying and crying for this world
