And the garden that grew up
Unashamedly around it
Naturally biblical yet still
Preserving the old pagan rituals
And one metaphysical rose
But mostly I loved the puddles
Of melting ice after a rain
Where I could slide before they came
That something so prodigal
And sweet could be sleeping
In the earth under my feet
I was a strange child
Innocent as thin ice
Before I grew wild
