For being willing
To be animals
And you plants
For remembering to re-enact
Your fateful decisions
I feel like we’re always saying goodbye
Now when I see a bird hurrying off
Or the color-changing of a flower
In the twilight of the street
As the sun grows more extinct
In the evolution of the day
It’s not that you
Will go on without us
But that we will be all that stays
