A hummingbird flies straight at me
Its beak piercing my third eye
But actually that’s real life
How I see its glowing ruby throat
Just before it enters my brain
You'd be surprised how often
This can happen this perception
That only the mind can die
While everything else goes on
Alive and healthy around me
Death can be so personal
An assault it takes
All my strength to bear it
As if I was losing you
