Aesopian Valentine

She had fallen on her back
Unable to right herself
A shiny black beetle
Waving her six frantic legs
In the air when a yellow
Butterfly stopped by to shout
I'll run for help but never returned
The red hibiscus watched all this
But couldn't lift a leaf or speak
Until at last a sparrow came by
To carry her to its brood
For which the beetle was so grateful
To be realized as food
To have taken so large a leap
On her way back to God
