Two dreaded phone calls
But they both went better
Than I imagined them
Each day grows hungrier
And I fear will soon devour me
But every night restores me
To the conviction of forever
I don't let things as they seem
Trouble my dreams anymore
Even when by twilight
All faith is gone like birds
No one notices when they die
Someone in the night puts everything
Back in its place and I wake up somehow
Even more hopeful than before
